Helmut Manseck was forced to return and put the boat in St. Nazaire for repairs after a air attack by 'Avenger' aircraft from VC-6 Sqdn. USN operating from the US escort carrier USS Block Island causing extensive damages to the boat. Sunk 2 steam cargo ships 13.989 GRT. Kptlt.
