| Entered the Kriegsmarine in late 1941, before his 18th birthday. U.S. interrogators believe he was on board "BURGENLAND". as his first an only ship. Departed Yokohama for Germany aboard BURGENLAND on 29 Oct 1943. Captured when BURGENLAND was scuttled under the guns of USS OMAHA and USS SOMERS on 05 Jan 1944. Landed in Recife, Brazil. Taken as Prisoner of War to Pernambuco. | |
