| 26 years old. Entered Merchant Marine in 1938. Joined "ANNELIESE ESSBERGER" in Apr 1942 after finishing an officer's training course. Captured on 21 Nov 1942 when the blockade breaker ANNELIESE ESSBERGER was scuttled under the guns of USS MILWAUKEE in position 00° 54' North; 22° 34' West, approximately 400 miles east of Saint Paul Rocks, Brazil. All hands took to lifeboats and were rescued by USS MILWAUKEE. | |
