Footnote : U-106 attacked the shadow of a merchant ship with a 2-torpedo spread in bad light conditions from the portside of the convoy. Oesten realized a hit on battleship "Malaya". - The report of the convoy commodore indicated a torpedo hit on the dutch steamer "Meerkerk" just prior to the attack against "Benwyvis" and "Clan Ogilvy". This may have been a second success of U-105 at this time.
