Footnote : I-21 assumed a hit on a battleship of "Colorado"-class, but the torpedo detonated 350 yards from the battleship USS "Washington", which had not been the target but was reported attacked by I-15/Ishikawa. - On Sep.15th I-15 had attacked the task group containing battleship USS "North Carolina", but its torpedoes missed. The hits came from an attack of I-19 some minutes earlier (see FN.5487).
