Footnote : U-764 fired two gnats against two targets a convoy of landing vessels. The second torpedo detonated after 2:41 min. Ten minutes later a rescue boat was seen. Following a contemporary report, LCT 1074 struck a mine between 14C and 14D Channel buoys. The stern was blown off, but bow section was towed to the Utah Station Ship by LCT 800. Survivors were given medical attention at that station (Admiralty War Diary 25.08.1944).
