Footnote : | U-221 observed that the first ship had a broken back and was sinking after 10 min. The second ship had developed a list; and sinking noises were heard from the third ship. If the Allied times are correct, only "Susana" was hit during these attacks, but the positions indicated show that also "Nellie" and "Nikolina Matkovic" were hit by U-221. - "Southern Empress" was later sunk by a coup de grâce from U-221, together with seven LCMs (508, 509, 519, 522, 523, 547 and 620), each of 52 tons. |
