Gefechtsbericht A: | Artl.-Angriff unterstützt durch RAF Coastal Command, koordiniert vom Dover Command. Gefecht wahrscheinlich identisch mit den deutschen Gefechten vom 8.9.[TW] -> - First encounter with the enemy in September 1942 took place off Dieppe on the night of the 7th. This was one of the first occasions, when an attack on a convoy was assisted by the RAF, coordinated by Dover Command, who dropped flares which illuminated the targets and blinded the enemy, allowing the voats to approach undetected. The MTBs (25, 48, 219, 221) were able to fire their torpedos as two C class MGBs created a diversion, but sadly none of the five torpedoes could be claimed as a hit. 221 followed up with a depth charge attack, and the gunboats severely mauled one of the escorts [1] -> Light craft of the Dover Command co-operating with aircraft engaged an escorted enemy convoy of unknown composition near Berck Buoy at 0230 today. No results were seen. M.T.B.25 was slightly damaged in the action [3]. |
