Gefechtsbericht A: Gefecht beginnt mit einem Fächerangriff: MTB 241 getroffen vom M-Boot, sinkt später im Schlepp. Es folgen 2 weitere T-Angriffe.-> Report of M.T.B. operations night 30th/31st:
1. 21st M.T.B. Flotilla, 1st Div. 241, 224, 244, 2nd Div. 223, 350 were ordered to be off Egmond by 2300 to sweep South for North-bound convoy. Bright moon and good visibility added to difficulty of attacking heavily-escorted convoy.
2. When convoy leaving Hook, S.O. decided to attack at 2337. Attack frustrated by heavy gunfire from escort.
3. Attempt then made to attack from seaward owing to large amount of starshell from escorts who were firing in all directions. Escort was now backed up by Ijmuiden trawler
patrols and gunfire was intense. As Flotilla closed M.V. target away. At this time main engine gear boxes of 241 were awash and boat was taken in tow by 224 and 244. S.O.
transferred to 224 and 244 took 214 in tow stern first.
5. M.T.B.244 towed 214 until 0655 when tow parted. 214 had then heavy list to starboard and stern awash. Tow was repassed by 0720, but parted twice after that. At 0800 crew, charts, and valuable apparatus taken on board 244. Shortly after 241 rolled over and sank in 52°22'N, 03°12'E.
6. Casualties - 1 rating slightly wounded. Damage - 241 sunk, 224 and 244 sustained superficial damage from 20 mm.[3]
