11.12.1941 the Italian torpedo boat ALCIONE, which had been hit at the stern by a torpedo fired by the British submarine HMS TRUANT (Commanding Officer Lt.Cdr. Hugh Alfred Vernon Haggard, RN), was towed by ELLI to Souda Bay, Crete. [D]
01.1942 sold to the Italian government. Quote: “It is known that Italy, without permission, has bought Greek ships from the German zone at extremely elevated prices although these were registered by Germany and sailed for German units. These were the following ships: ELENI approx. 400 grt, ELENI (iron) 300 grt, AGIA PARASKEVI 310 grt, tanker ELLI 420 grt”. [C]
02.-07.1942 back to German units (cp. “KTB des Deutschen Marinekommandos Führungsstand Afrika von 09.07.1942” = war diary of German Naval Command representative at Command HQ Africa 09.07.1942).
09.03.1943 handed over to Mittelmeerreederei GmbH, Athens office. [D]
02.11.1943 fire in the engine room in the port of Saloniki. Repairs took approx. four weeks. [E]
19.09.1944, 15:00 (German operational time), with the Greek Captain Georgios Kalafatis in command and with a cargo of 250 tons of Oil, 15 tons of ammunition and three motorcycles, attacked by eight Allied aircraft of 252nd Squadron RAF at Gavrion, on the island of Andros, Cyclades, Greece, and sunk in shallow water. 1950 sold by the O.A.N. (Greek Wreckers' Committee) to be broken up. [F]
